Dental Veneers

These are thin ceramic laminates or facings that are bonded on to minimally or non-prepped teeth. Dental veneers are used to create a whiter and brighter smile with beautifully aligned and contoured teeth. Veneers restore discolored, chipped, uneven, or spaced teeth with esthetically aligned teeth. The translucent ceramic material used for veneers provides a more natural-looking smile, without an opaque monochromatic appearance. A typical veneer make-over will include at least six veneers, and ideally 8-10 veneers are recommended for drastic color and shape changes. CAD/CAM technology allows for ceramic veneers to be fabricated in one visit, without a temporary phase. For individual veneers, characterization, staining and glazing is important to blend in with the natural surrounding dentition. An in-office ceramic oven is a must for such situations. A special night guard may be recommended to protect the veneers from nighttime grinding. Veneers fall into the category of cosmetic dentistry, and thus are elective with no dental insurance coverage. Lifespan of ceramic veneers is 10-15 years.
